When I was 35 yrs old shopping at Forever 21 I told a friend "I hate the loud music they play in there...I get sensory overload when I shop". And the friend said something very wise to me...

"Well, that's because Forever 21 is not FOR you. You're a 35 yr old Mom. They are trying to appeal to a certain clientele and it must not be you."

.

And I carry that lesson with me to this day: Sometimes when you don't like something it's not because it's bad...it's because it isn't FOR you

This applies to all the music, art, books, movies, clothes, etc that you aren't a fan of, my sweet summer children

You can open your mind and give it a try or you can just not say anything at all and not take a dump on things people like. It’s not personal. The world isn’t made just for you.
